# Klott > Klott is a fast, no-account, browser-based Markdown writing and notes app. Open the page and write — no signups, no setup. A mood-themed, distraction-free editor lets you switch the whole look (fonts + colors) to fit how you want to write. ## What it is Klott is a focused writing surface for Markdown notes. There are no accounts and nothing to configure: you open Klott and start typing, and content stays local and ephemeral in the free editor. Instead of a single greyscale look, Klott ships multiple "moods" — Clean, Editorial, Data, Boom, Craving, Magical, Party, Pirate and more — where each mood changes the typography and color palette of the writing surface. Both light and dark themes are supported. Text documents are always free — no account or sign-up to open, edit, share, or collaborate. You can share a text document by link and collaborate on it with up to 10 people. Editing is one person at a time: a single editor holds the document while everyone else views, and editing can be handed off between people. It is not simultaneous multi-cursor editing. Klott is currently in pre-launch beta ahead of a public launch on September 1, 2026. Beta is limited to 100 spots; beta members claim their own hosted address at klott.cc/you. ## Features - Markdown writing with a distraction-free editor - Slash (`/`) command menu for inserting blocks and formatting - Moods that restyle the editor (fonts + colors), plus light and dark themes - Export to PDF, HTML, Markdown, and Word (.docx) - A4 / Letter page-count preview - Footnotes and endnotes - Import from Word (.docx) - Share or publish a note by link - Collaborate on a text document with up to 10 people, one editor at a time (view + handoff, not simultaneous editing) — free, no account - Klippets — reusable, shareable snippets (including images) you can drop into any document - Discover — a public, opt-in discovery layer where owners choose to list their klotts: featured carousel, trending, and search - Follow other members to keep up with what they publish - MCP server — AI agents can create and manage klotts programmatically over the Model Context Protocol ## Upcoming - Native desktop app - Self-hosting — copy Klott to your own webserver as a lightweight WordPress alternative ## Pages - `/` — the Klott editor - `/homepage` — marketing homepage - `/pricing` — plans and pricing - `/guide` — how to use Klott - `/changelog` — release notes - `/self-host` — self-hosting information - `/join` — join the beta waitlist (100 spots) - `/discover` — public, opt-in discovery of listed klotts: featured carousel, trending, and search - `/request` — request a feature or send feedback to the team ## Author Built by Carl Hagerling. https://hagerling.se/
